Everest Region Trekking

The Everest Region (also known as the Khumbu Region) is Nepal's second most popular trekking destination after the Annapurna Circuit. Because of several peaks above 8,000 metres, including Mt. Everest, spectacular mountain view and the Sherpa culture, the Khumbu Region is considered by many adventure lovers as the most attractive destination. Lukla is the gateway to the Everest Region. One can reach Lukla either by walk from Jiri or by air from Kathmandu. With many mountains, hills, valleys and rivers, the region has varied trekking routes. Although the trek starts from an elevation of 1860m at Jiri, the route passes through the Dudh Koshi river (only 1500m). Jiri is connected to Kathmandu by road. One can get in Jiri from Kathmandu within 7/8 hours by bus. The Dudh Koshi river can be reached on the sixth day after considerable uphill and downhill treks. The duration trek to the Everest Region ranges from 7 to 30 days.
